All students interested in participating in Intern for a Day can choose to attend one of two options to meet the mandatory orientation requirement:
- Option A: attend one in-person orientation OR
- Option B: complete THIS virtual, asynchronous orientation available on September 22 by Friday, October 10, 2025.

Completion of this 30-45 minute, asynchronous online orientation is required in order for UMD undergraduate students to receive access to the Intern for a Day student application each semester.

What to Expect:
The purpose of this mandatory orientation is to give University of Maryland undergraduate students insight into how the Intern for a Day process works and how to best prepare for a job shadowing or virtual informational interviewing opportunity if we are able to match you with a professional through the program. It should take you approximately 30-45 minutes to complete the orientation.
You can find the dates and deadlines associated with completing this orientation for the current semester at ifad.umd.edu. After viewing all content and completing all "assignments" (3 quizzes, 1 activity) with full scores within this orientation, you will receive the Intern for a Day application in the days after the orientation closes.

- Background on Intern for a Day
- Application/matching process, followed by a brief quiz for understanding
- How to prepare for a job shadowing experience, followed by an activity and a brief quiz for understanding
- How to prepare for a virtual informational interviewing experience, followed by a brief quiz
